"You're a grand old flag, You're a high-flying flag, And forever in peace may you wave. You're the emblem of the land I love, The home of the free and the brave. Ev'ry heart beats true'Neath the Red, White and Blue, Where there's never a boast or brag. But should auld acquaintance be forgo Keep your eye on the grand old flag." | So glad I got to spend the first official day of Fall Break exploring the city of Regensburg with my American/Bavarian friend, Mikayla! We had to celebrate because as of today, WE HAVE BEEN IN GERMANY FOR THREE MONTHS! |
[ And we may have had just a bit too much fun with it :) ]
This past week, the weather was rainy and cold just about every day. However, the rain let up Thursday just in time for our class sleepover! "Classes" in Germany are different than classes in America. My class consists of about twenty other people in my grade. We have all of our classes together (except for language classes - you can choose between those). I think that there are three or four classes per grade. So, my class of twenty people and our English teacher, who is the equivalent of a Homeroom teacher, spent the night at the school. I had so much fun, and not just because I feel closer to my classmates now! We ordered pizza, watched movies, practiced our gymnastics and basketball in the gym, and some of us didn't even go to sleep (I did)! We watched The Hunger Games (in English!) and Catch Me if You Can which I went to sleep half way through because it was three in the morning at that point. | |
At school on Friday, for the last period of the day, I have "English History" - which is just their normal history class but taught in English so my teacher told me that I was his assistant! He's a HUGE soccer fan! He'll quiz us on key play and moments from recent soccer matches. So naturally, when our school has a soccer tournament for the younger grades, we're going to go watch it. We headed down to the gym and cheered as class 7a faced off against class 6a! I've never seen little kids so competitive! I keep thinking how lucky I am to be here - what other school lets you skip class to watch soccer?! |
Until next post...
Liebe Grüße,
