And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!” - Genesis 28:17 I took the two pictures above as I hiked from my house to the Neukirchen bus stop (a 23 minute walk up and down hills). I rode a bus to Passau to shop and do touristy things as well as eat. It was a fabulous day spent in such a beautiful city! Cemeteries in Germany are so interesting, and not only because most of the people buried in them lived through WWII, but because of the actual cemetery itself. They have gravestones just like in America, however they also have planters on the grave and people garden their loves one's graves! This is definitely the way that I want to be buried because 1) it makes the grave yard less sad and depressing and more cheerful 2) who wouldn't want to be decorated with flowers?! There are actually gardening services that specialize in maintaining the gardens in the cemetery! How neat! One of my friends got to ride Mona today at the Neukirchen Leonhardiritt - a gathering of over 100 horses to parade around Neukirchen - complete with a traditional Bavarian band, food, drinks, and shopping! I love festivals! The sun was stunning earlier so naturally, I just had to play around with some photos of it. Liebe Grüße (a.k.a. "love greetings"),
