I still know very little German…. although I have learned a lot, I do not know how to use this knowledge to form correct sentences.
Today is my 12th day in Germany (15th day on program) and I still cannot fathom that I am in Germany! It feels like I am just at summer camp and will be returning home soon.
I was able to Skype with my parents this morning (my brother was in the background for a minute as he made himself breakfast) before they went to work and right after I had finished lunch.
I’ve gotten a few letters from family and friends, for which I am very thankful for but I do not have enough postage to reply to everyone (I’m buying some tomorrow).
German weather during the summer is similar to America. It’s chilly, foggy and rainy in the mornings (typically) and then warms up and the sun comes out before lunch. We’ll have the occasional rainstorm in the afternoon/evening as well.
I have gained a vast amount of knowledge throughout the past week and a half. It’s strange to think that by the end of next week, I will have to leave all the great friends that I’ve made here. However, I am so excited to meet my host family!
There are many differences in American and German cultures which I plan to point out in a later blog post!
Liebe, Lyndee
