I’m thankful for everyone who takes the time to read my blog and I hope that it gives you some insight into what an exchange year is like. One of the most important aspects of exchanges is the Gastfamilie, or Host Family. I have been so blessed this year with the best host family on the planet! It's kind-hearted people like them that make the difference in one's exchange year!
Programs, such as CIEE (a.k.a. the BEST non-profit exchange organization out there), are always looking for new potential host families!
"Each year, the CIEE USA High School Program partners with hundreds of American families to bring bright students from every corner of the world to the U.S. From the time a student applies to his or her return trip home, our staff is available to students, host families, and schools 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and through every step of the process.
Our students have chosen to step outside their comfort zones to be part of new families, schools, and communities. They are smart, engaged, and excited to share the unique aspects of their country’s culture, traditions, and language. We still need homes for students from Thailand, Mexico, Slovakia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, China, Spain, South Korea, and France!
By opening your heart and home, you make it possible for members of your community to meet, interact, and learn from someone from a different culture. Exchange students bring new perspectives that can open minds, creating opportunities for engagement and understanding that strengthen schools and communities alike.”
